You can use the powdered acai for these as well and they work great, but another choice is using frozen puree. Sambazon and Zola both provide high quality flash pasteurized frozen puree which is unsweetened. These puree packs are ideal for smoothies for obvious reasons, you get the whole berry in the purest form next to having the berry itself and its in a frozen and convenient package for smoothie making, and the FDA has determined frozen produce does retain its nutritional value as much if not longer then fresh produce.
